Movement with somewhere to go
A fast character is only half the idea. You also need a reason to move. HYPED's PvP arenas give you cover to break a sightline, height to change an angle, and space to approach a fight from somewhere other than the obvious doorway.
The current movement system includes sprinting, sliding and wall jumps. They are useful when they put you in a better position to shoot. Sliding straight into a waiting opponent is still sliding straight into a waiting opponent.
Read the fight before you commit
Start with three questions: where is the opponent looking, what can you use as cover, and where will you finish your movement? A route that ends behind a wall gives you another decision. A route that ends in the middle of a lane asks your aim to solve everything.
That is the skill we want HYPED to reward: getting comfortable with movement until you can use it while watching the fight. Our movement-shooter practice guide breaks that down into short drills you can use in a game with suitable movement mechanics.
Take your own look into the arena
HYPED's blocky characters have room for a little nonsense. The Sugar Riot collection brings donut shades, strawberry colors and a bitten-donut backpack. The competitive side can stay focused while your outfit gets ridiculous.
Then try the other side
PvP is one half of HYPED. Blacksite is the wave-survival half, where the pressure comes from keeping space open as the horde fills it. It uses a separate survival setup, so weapon performance against a player should not be treated as a zombie damage chart.
Where will HYPED be available?
HYPED is coming to Steam and Roblox. The Steam page is awaiting publication. There is no announced release date on this site, and the Roblox page explains what is confirmed so far.
