New DPI. Same turn.

Calculate a new in-game sensitivity when changing mouse DPI. Preserve eDPI within the same game, see the formula and share a link with your settings.

HYPED field guide Updated

800 DPI at sensitivity 1 equals 1,600 DPI at sensitivity 0.5.

The calculation

New sensitivity = current DPI × current sensitivity / new DPI. Multiplying DPI by sensitivity gives eDPI, or effective DPI. This tool holds that product constant.

For example, 800 DPI at sensitivity 1 gives 800 eDPI. Change to 1,600 DPI and sensitivity 0.5 preserves that same product. At 400 DPI, you would use sensitivity 2 instead.

This works within the same game

The calculation assumes the game's sensitivity setting is a linear multiplier and that you keep its other input settings unchanged. It is not a converter between games. A sensitivity of 1 in two different shooters does not necessarily produce the same rotation.

It also does not calculate centimeters per 360-degree turn without knowing the game's input scale. Mouse acceleration, separate scoped settings and other multipliers can change the result you feel. Keep them unchanged while testing a DPI switch.

Check it with a repeatable turn

  1. Before changing anything, pick a fixed point in a practice area and note how far you move the mouse for a full turn.
  2. Set the new DPI in your mouse software or hardware controls.
  3. Enter the calculated sensitivity in the same game.
  4. Repeat the turn from the same start point. If the game rounds the setting, use the closest allowed value and check again.

Do not judge the change from one missed shot. First check whether the physical turn is similar. If it is not, investigate the input settings rather than compensating with random changes.

What is the best eDPI?

There is no universal number this calculator can choose for you. Available mouse space, the game's turning demands and your control all matter. Pick a setting that lets you follow a target and turn comfortably, then leave it alone long enough to practice.

The movement-shooter guide has a short tracking drill for testing control while moving. If the issue is uneven frame delivery, use the frame-time calculator to understand the FPS numbers separately.

Method: linear DPI × sensitivity scaling. Calculations run locally. Shared links contain only the numeric values entered above.
